Trends are changing with a blink of an eye, something which catches the eye and is out in the world as a fashion statement. What is out of the box in trends these days is that they cyclic. What trended back in 60’s 90’s is coming back, second-hand and vintage fashion is seeing an upward trend, owing to the increase in the demand for sustainable options. Trends are more linked to nostalgia now, millennial's and genzer’s. Something which is in trend these days is Y2K fashion, it is all over the internet right now.

What is Y2K fashion?

Y2K is an abbreviation for the year 2000. Initially a representation of the millennium computer bug that messed up dates back in 2000, Y2K also refers to the fashion trends and styles of the early 2000s. The fashion includes Velour Tracksuits, small bags, Colourful accessories, denim on denim, hair accessories like bucket caps, scarfs and vintage pieces that add aesthetic to your outfit.

Y2K is not limited to women but men too, It’s one of the very inclusive fashion style of this era and is absolutely gender neutral. Below are some of the example of Y2K Male fashion which are trending and very inclusive.

The reason why Y2K fashion is in trend is because many people started their thrift stores to promote sustainable fashion and sell many of their old clothes, nostalgia to the generation ahead and trends being on a loop from time to time repeating itself is what the essence of fashion is. Instagram and influencers have also promoted this fashion and the idea of making it gender neutral is what is making it in trend yet again.
